1. Pico do Arieiro

One of the highest peaks in Madeira, Pico do Arieiro stands at 1,818 meters above sea level. This popular sunrise spot offers unparalleled views of the island’s mountainous landscape. On clear mornings, you can see the clouds below, creating a surreal “sea of clouds” effect. The sunrise here is truly spectacular, with the sun emerging from behind the peaks and gradually lighting up the surroundings.

2. Pico Ruivo

Pico Ruivo, the highest peak in Madeira at 1,862 meters, is another fantastic location for sunrise watching. The hike to Pico Ruivo is a bit challenging, but the reward is well worth the effort. From the summit, you get a 360-degree view of the island. Watching the sunrise from Pico Ruivo is a breathtaking experience, as the first light of day reveals the island’s rugged and majestic terrain.

3. Seixal Beach

Seixal Beach is a hidden gem on Madeira’s northern coast. Known for its black sand and clear waters, this beach offers a unique setting for watching the sunrise. The sun’s rays reflecting off the dark sand and the surrounding cliffs create a striking contrast that is visually stunning. The calmness of the early morning, combined with the beauty of the natural surroundings, makes Seixal Beach a perfect spot to enjoy the sunrise.

4. Ponta de São Lourenço

Located on the easternmost tip of Madeira, Ponta de São Lourenço is a must-visit for sunrise enthusiasts. The rugged cliffs and unique rock formations create a dramatic backdrop for the rising sun. The interplay of colors—reds, oranges, and yellows—against the deep blue Atlantic Ocean is simply mesmerizing. T

5. Miradouro do Guindaste

Miradouro do Guindaste offers panoramic views of the northern coastline of Madeira. As the sun rises, the cliffs and ocean are bathed in a warm, golden light. This viewpoint is easily accessible and provides a serene setting to enjoy the beauty of the early morning light. The sight of the waves crashing against the rugged coast adds to the magical experience.

6. Bica da Cana

Bica da Cana is a lesser-known gem located in the central part of Madeira. This spot offers an elevated vantage point with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. As the sun rises, the mist often settles in the valleys, creating a mystical atmosphere. It’s a serene and beautiful place to watch the day begin.
