Ilhapark is located in Funchal, not far from the Lido promenade. I love this park because it’s a great place for kids to play on climbing frames and trampolines while being supervised, allowing parents to relax at the nearby café. It is also a popular venue for birthday celebrations, so it’s advisable to call in advance to confirm the opening hours.
2. Aquaparque Madeira
The water park in Madeira is a fun place to cool off during the island’s hot weather. It’s got a bunch of water slides, pools, and stuff to do for all ages. It’s set in a green area, so it feels like a tropical getaway. Even though there aren’t tons of slides, there are enough to keep you entertained. Plus, they’ve got cool bird shows and a lazy river. Best Rental Car Company on Madeira: When it comes to renting a car in Madeira, I recommend using family driving company Carwave Madeira. All the cars are new, fully equipped and include full insurance, no security deposit required and no hold credit card numbers. Book your rental car. If you prefer not to drive, you can also opt for guided tours or public transportation options available in Madeira.
3. Ajuda Gardens
Ajuda Gardens is a nice park located in Funchal. In Ajuda Gardens, you’ll find a wide variety of plants and flowers. There’s also a playground for kids, which is shaded by trees. And if you’re into sports, you can find here things like basketball court and ping-pong tables.
4. Quinta Magnolia
Quinta Magnolia Gardens, located in Funchal, is a delightful destination for nature lovers and families alike. One of the highlights of Quinta Magnolia Gardens is its dedicated children’s area, complete with a playground where little ones can run, climb, and play to their heart’s content. Additionally, visitors can enjoy observing rabbits and parrots in the garden. And after a day of exploring, you can relax at the cute cafe in the gardens, enjoying snacks and drinks in the peaceful atmosphere.

What could be better than a peaceful evening hike surrounded by Madeira’s stunning landscapes?
As the sun sets and the island is bathed in golden light, the trails take on a magical charm. The cooler temperatures, the soft sounds of nature, and the breathtaking views make evening hikes an unforgettable experience.
To be honest, evening hikes, just before sunset, are my absolute favorite time to hit the trails. Even the most popular routes feel empty, giving you the rare sense of complete solitude. The landscapes and stunning views feel like they belong only to you, wrapped in the golden hues of the setting sun.
If you ask me whether I’d choose evening hikes over morning ones, my answer would be a resounding 100%! And not just because I’m not a fan of waking up in the dark to an alarm clock 🙂
